SKILLSTECH QLD - VOCATIONAL PLACE PROGRAM - WORK EXPERIENCE
For the past 2 years Action Scaffolds have supported SkillsTech QLD through their Vocational Placement Program, a training program designed for students to gain an insight into the workforce and allowing them to gain first-hand experience before choosing an area in which to study. A placement typically takes place over school holidays, for a minimum period of 160 hours and can be completed over a single block of time or spread out over a number of weeks until completed.
At Action Scaffolds we provide work experience by utilising a ‘buddy system’ where the student is teamed up with one of our team members throughout the time they are with us. They are given a tour around the Action Scaffolds operation and we outline a typical day as a Scaffolder. The student goes out to sites with our team member and participates in the day to day duties of a scaffolder. Students are limited to domestic sites for safety reasons but are able to gain a solid understanding of becoming a scaffolder, including erection and dismantle of scaffolding.
The Vocational Placement Program gives the student an introduction to not only the industry but working within a team, rules and procedures of the industry and WPHS compliance.
Actions Scaffolders has now had the pleasure of hosting 3 Vocational Placement students and we look forward to continuing to offer placement of students and working with our industry partners.

tHE gary munro and bobby matthews annual memorial golf day 2011
Action Scaffolds recently attended and sponsored the Gary Munro and Bobby Matthews Annual Memorial Golf Day 2011
As a sponsor of the Superior Group - Gary Munro and Bobby Matthew Annual Memorial Golf Day 2011, Action Scaffolds ran a 'Hole in one' competition with a Genie Material (Duct) Lift as the main prize. Whilst it was hotly contested no holes in one were achieved, however we did manage to raise and donate over $1000 to the Cancer Council Qld.
